Golden Velvet

Hand-picked and hand-rolled, crafted with care at MacDuff Estate.

Some teas reveal their craftsmanship before the water is even poured.

Golden Velvet comes from MacDuff Estate in Sri Lanka, where the leaves are hand-picked, gently processed and hand-rolled. This careful handling preserves the beautiful golden down of the young tea buds — the detail that gives Golden Velvet its name.

In the cup, the leaves produce a rich copper-coloured liquor with naturally smooth notes of honey and malt. There’s warmth and depth here, but also an elegance that makes this a beautiful introduction to just how distinctive a carefully made single-estate black tea can be.

Take a moment to look at the leaf before you brew it. With Golden Velvet, the craftsmanship is part of the experience.

Flavour Notes

Honey • Malt • Smooth • Warming

Perfect For

• Slow, unhurried mornings

• A refined afternoon cup

• Black tea drinkers ready to explore something special

• Enjoying a tea where the leaf itself is part of the experience

Ingredients

100% Sri Lankan Black Tea

HOW TO BREW

🌿 1–2 tsp per 250 mL

💧 Freshly drawn water (95°C)

⏱ Steep 3–4 minutes

🍵 Try it without milk first to appreciate its natural honeyed and malty character.

The whole leaves may be infused a second time. Allow the second brew a little longer and discover the softer character still held within the leaf.

FOR THE TEA CURIOUS

Before brewing, take a closer look at the dry leaf.

The pale golden tips are the softly downed young tea buds preserved through Golden Velvet’s gentle processing and hand-rolling.

For a more precise brew, try approximately 3 g of leaf per 250 mL. Start at 3 minutes, taste, and extend towards 4 minutes if you prefer a fuller cup.

Fine tea rewards experimentation — small changes in leaf, temperature and time can reveal something different in every cup.
