Wuyi Rock Oolong

Da Hong Pao

Ancient cliffs, enduring tradition, a tea of depth and character.

Some teas are shaped as much by the landscape as by the hands that make them.

Da Hong Pao is a celebrated style of Wuyi rock oolong from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, China. Grown among the dramatic rocky landscape of the region, these teas are known for their roasted character, depth and distinctive mineral quality.

Rich and warming in the cup, our Wuyi Rock Oolong offers layers of roasted, earthy and gently sweet character, with a lingering finish that invites you back for another sip. Unlike a delicate green tea, these twisted leaves respond beautifully to hotter water and reveal more of themselves over repeated infusions.

Take your time with this one. The leaves have more than one cup to give.

Ingredients

100% Wuyi Oolong Tea

HOW TO BREW

🌿 1–2 tsp per 250 mL

💧 Freshly drawn water (90–95°C)

⏱ Steep 2–3 minutes

🍵 Enjoy without milk to appreciate its roasted and mineral character.

These leaves are made for more than one cup. Infuse again, gradually increasing the steeping time with each brew.

FOR THE TEA CURIOUS

Da Hong Pao is traditionally well suited to Gongfu-style brewing.

Use approximately 6–7 g of leaf per 100–120 mL with water at 95°C. Begin with a short infusion of around 15 seconds, then gradually increase the steeping time with each successive brew.

A small gaiwan or teapot works beautifully and allows you to experience how the character of the tea changes from one infusion to the next.
